As the Obamacare enrollment surpasses the one million mark, I started to think online healthcare has actuallt been around for a while, so why the fuss and more importantly, why did the site have so many problems. Is is pretty safe to say the brightest and best in the health care+technology space was NOT consulted sufficiently. Oh, well...
As an Entrepreneur, one of the key safeguards you must deliver is health insurance for yourself and possibly staff. Ten years ago I stumbled onto the website www.eHealthInsurance.com and signed up for my first plan.
I believed I started with Golden Rule insurance for a few years, than went with an Aetna PPO for several. Just last year I switch to Independence Blue Cross PPO, and just for the sake of it I went back to eHealthInsurance.org to see if they were getting involved with the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare).
Wow, I was shocked to see over a $150+ per month savings for virtually the same Independence Blue Cross PPO / Silver plan. Some of additional plans being featured are United Healthcare Oxford, AmeriHealth New Jersey, and Horizon Blue Cross.
I am glad to hear that the Affordable Caresite (HealthCare.gov) will now be led by Kurt DelBene, a former executive at Microsoft. For those in need of health care there are plenty of viable options on the web. (http://www.politico.com/story/2013/12/kurt-delbene-jeff-zients-obamacare-101237.html)
